Precision Technik HP-10/HP-15 Training Description

1. System Overview

Each component of the overpack vessel is examined in detail. Specifically, this section of the training
looks at the following components:

a. Vessel
b. Closure
c. Frame
d. Nitrogen cylinder
e. Controls

The layout, function, and overall operation of each component is discussed with images and diagrams to clearly illustrate each sub-system.

2. Prohibitions

There are a number of chemicals and gases that should not be placed inside any Precision Technik
salvage cylinder. Each of these chemicals is described along with the reasons why they are prohibited.

3. Using the HP-10

The salvage cylinders offered by Precision Technik, particularly the HP-10 and HP-15, are sophisticated machines and operators must be familiar with how to safely and effectively operate the systems. All the operations associated with using the salvage cylinder are discussed along with detailed insights into how the various system components interact. Some of the specific topics discussed in this part of the
training include:

a. Control functions
b. Cylinder Loading
c. Using the Blocking Plate
d. Vessel purging
e. Shipping
f. Unloading Cylinders
g. Cleaning
h. Maintenance

The training is conducted using PowerPoint and interactive discussion. An integral part of the training involves allowing participants to obtain hands-on experience with one of the machines after they have finished the classroom sessions. Class participants can learn first-hand how to operate the various salvage cylinder components and gain a further understanding into how the system works. Questions and open discussion is strongly encouraged throughout both the classroom and hands-on training.
